"The rare events we do at my house are by far my favorite. They're friendly, down-home, great fun, and the food is killer. These are world-class musicians yet totally accessible, and you get to experience them in a living room. It makes me remember why I do this for a living."
—SW Roots Music director and Thirsty Ear Festival founder Mike Koster

Join us for a special unplugged, catered event at Thirsty Ear Festival founder Mike Koster's home. Our final event of the season features the gorgeous vocals of Po' Girl frontwoman Allison Russell teaming up with Jeremy Lindsay, one of Chicago's finest. This catered event features organic chili & cornbread, mixed greens, NM wines & microbrews, delicious desserts, and a night of killer music. Come hang out with Allison, Jeremy, Mike, and other Southwest Roots Music supporters.

The evening marks a special occasion. Not only is it our final concert of 2009, it is also the first live collaboration as a duo between Allison Russell and Jeremy Lindsay. Allison, of course, is the gorgeous, soulful lead voice on the bulk of Po' Girl songs (she also plays a mean clarinet). Rolling Stone Magazine's take on Po' Girl: "With enough sultry ambiance to be at home in either a cocktail lounge or on a New Orleans street corner, Po' Girl features a simple, polished production of wistful, plaintively slurred vocals over a sparse yet warm jazz-folk accompaniment of guitar, stand-up bass, harmonica, banjo and clarinet. Americana can seem like a language from a forgotten era, but Po' Girl manages to maintain that traditional and nostalgic sound while breathing fresh life into an old-fashioned genre."

Jeremy Lindsay (aka JT Nero), who fronts JT & the Clouds, is a revered songwriter. The Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist penned "Scattered Leaves" (covered beautifully by the Be Good Tanyas), "'Til It's Gone" (a Po' Girl classic), and many other extraordinary songs. Jeremy's sound has been dubbed "Sly Stone soul meets Gram Parsons heartbreak."

Special huge heartfelt thanks to Rick Thaler for supporting this performance, and for his consistent support of live music in New Mexico!
