about
Southwest Roots Music (SWRM) is dedicated to increasing awareness of NM as a center for music and to promoting traditional music through educational programs and up to 20 annual performances in Northern New Mexico by local and internationally renowned folk, blues, Native American, Cajun, zydeco, and world music artists. MUSIC MAKERS MATCHING PROGRAM provides K-12 schools with high minority and/or underserved populations a rare opportunity to experience traditional music and music education. Your tax-deductible donation is matched dollar-for-dollar by us and used to purchase tickets to Southwest Roots Music events for students, their families, and school staff. Your contribution is fully tax deductible and helps underserved populations and their families in New Mexico experience traditional music and educational programming. Your generous contribution will be acknowledged with thanks from the stage, on our website, and on post-event press releases. Please email thirstyearfest@aol.com or call 505-473-5723 for more information on the program.

SPONSORS: As a non-commercial organization promoting what is essentially non-commercial music, we rely heavily on support from community-minded individuals and companies who value great music. Please consider donating materials or dollars for a good cause. For a sponsor or donation packet please email or call 505-473-5723.

PROGRAM ADVERTISING: The Thirsty Ear Festival program reaches more than 5000 focused festival goers each Labor Day Weekend. Please email or call 505-473-5723 for rates and deadlines.

VOLUNTEERS: We are always in need of responsible volunteers for both the festival and the Icons series. In exchange for your help, you'll enjoy one of the greatest musical weekends of your life. Please email or call 505-473-5723.

ARTIST SUBMISSIONS: Due to the overwhelming number of submissions, participation in the Thirsty Ear Festival is by invite only. We cannot return unsolicited materials or guarantee a response to inquiries. That said, we've booked many wonderful artists in the early stages of their careers—Mary Gauthier and the Red Stick Ramblers come to mind—because they sent us a disc and we got turned on. So please feel free to send us a disc (no electronic kits or extensive promo, just a simple CD please) and we will give it a listen. Thanks for your understanding.

VENDING: SW Roots Music works with a limited number of food and crafts vendors, with an emphasis on healthy, preferably organic food and homemade arts & crafts. For details, please email vending coordinator Susan Young.
